Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

Servings 2 cups

Ingredients

  • 1.5 c butter (3 sticks), softened ¬†or 1/2 butter and 1/2 shortening
  • 1 c cocoa powder
  • 5 c powdered sugar
  • 1/2 c milk
  • 1-2 t vanilla
  • 1/4 t espresso powder optional

Instructions

  1. Whisk cocoa to remove lumps.
  2. Cream butter.
  3. Add vanilla and espresso (optional).
  4. Gradually add sugar, 1 cup at a time, scraping bowl often.
  5. Add milk until desired consistency.
