Alex is movin’ on up! He’s pretty officially doing Kindergarten work now. He was getting so bored! I’m accommodating. No holding back!

So I printed out the Raising Rock Stars Kindergarten letter A pages and he went to town.

He knew the pictures that started with A just fine and colored them.

phonics fun

He practiced the sign for A and chose the correct picture at the bottom. So proud of my boy!

LOTW ASL

I love that it has Bible verses for each letter!

He cut out his verse and glued it in order with very little help. He recited it to me!

He still loves cutting and gluing. It’s his favorite activity!

Do A Dot markers with his letter A maze. He loves dot markers!

He’s so careful with tracing!

My son had lots of fun this summer!

He went to preschool nature camp with Dad at Ogden Nature Center.

We learned fun stuff at library Dig Into Reading sessions. We learned about other countries, history, language, art, animals, and more!

gracias

Alex made mashed potatoes almost all by himself. That cool knife? They’re over here. We have 2 of that one and 2 of this knife and the kids love them!

Alex still loves Tot School and Animal ABCs and Raising Rock Stars Preschool.

He’s snuggly and likes to watch the iPad with sister

He gets so excited when our cat, Sinéad, allows him to pet her.

Sinead and Bubba

Alex helped in the garden lots. He helped dig up our potatoes.

He likes to help Liz with science. They do experiments together. He dropped the antacid tablets in the water/vinegar solutions to learn about concentration

Alex has a lot of freedom. I try to make sure he’s learning by all the everyday things we do. I want him to love learning and never get discouraged or frustrated. We limit our seatwork since he’s an active little boy!

He has a stack of papers by his table. He picks and chooses what he wants to do. Some are from past lessons. We’re on H, but he’s doing the cutting page from E.

We’re a cat family.

Our beloved Seamus passed away too close to Christmas 2010. He was the best kitty ever. He was a bobtail.

Seamus the Cat

And here is our big boy, Rubeus. He claimed me when he jumped in my van and curled up in my lap as his home. I love him. He missed Seamus so we got him Sinead, but it will never be the same. He passed away in April 2018.

Rubeus the Cat

Here is our baby beauty, Sinead. She’s petite and delicate and we delight in her antics. She’s full grown and still the size of a kitten!

The latest addition to our family is Dionysus.

Alex is almost 3 years old! just a little over a month away…

Alex sorted candy hearts by color. Tori watched for a chance to eat some.

He told me here, rather matter of fact: “I won’t color if you take a picture.” Touché.

no color

Behold the cuteness of this rascal. And that superb tracing before he cut it out!

Monkey pattern matching. He’s sure smart and has no trouble with preschool work! He’s not even three yet and I can barely keep him interested in most work that his sisters begged for more at this age. He certainly needs handwriting work. He love to cut and paste and he just started liking coloring pictures. I often can’t tell if he’s bored, frustrated, or just plain ornery.

groundhog shadow experiment. The girls and Alex loved this one. A flashlight + a groundhog cutout + a dark room=awesome.

wowsers, the boy is SPELLING already with this Montessori Crossword app.

I tried to make it simple and lay out one card and the letters for that card.

He wanted all the cards and all the letters all out. I was super impressed.

Dad took Alex to the local nature center for a preschool winter class. They made snow paint with salt. They colored snowflake pictures.

And….

Oh my, just look at him in his little snowshoes!

Tonight before bed, Alex got so excited that it was essential oil time: “Ya gonna rub the oils on my foots?!” as I rubbed his “foots” with Thieves oil, he sighed like it was heaven: “Aaaaah!”

He is precious. and hilarious.

We are totally doing delight=driven school with this one. Otherwise, he runs wild and refuses to do anything productive.

Alex is still obsessed with Hungry Hippos and Perfection games. We play those LOTS.

Hungry Hippos
Hippo Bottle Caps Work

H is for Hippos with Animal ABC Tot School.

He’s coloring the hippos. He’s doing more paperwork than the last few weeks. Still not very interested. Once in a while he will do it.

He does really like cutting and pasting though.

Cutting and Pasting Hippos

He’s saying “hippo” and showing me his H.

Here are all the letters Alex has completed on our clothesline.

He’s beginning to show interest in writing and reading now and I guess since he knows all the alphabet and their sounds, we’ll be moving on at his pace!

He was writing letters on his little magnet pad and we were quite excited.

Tori read Good Night, Gorilla to Alex (and Katie) since it’s G for Gorilla week for Tot School.

It was precious. He even has his gorilla pillow pet! aw! He was so cute and attentive. I love it.

Gorilla Storytime

Alex decided he needed some quiet time and started looking through his Bible books. He loves this Baby’s First Bible!

Babys First Bible

They’ve been in the basket for years and I love it that he’s finally discovering and enjoying them! He’s reading Baby’s First Prayers.
