Top Ways To Find A Cell Phone Number Online

This post may contain affiliate links. See disclosure. Check out my suggested resources.

February 8, 2019 By Jennifer Lambert Leave a Comment

Finding a cell phone number online is something that virtually everyone wants to do.

Here are some top tips on how to do just that.

1. Try doing a reverse phone lookup.

This can typically be done by simply typing the number into a search engine. Simply choose your favorite search engine and more times than not information connected to that number will appear in the results. If the number has ever been used in conjunction with or been entered online, on a website, or on a blog posting, it will show up and you can use the information gleaned from this search.

2. Try typing the number into social media sites.

It is a little-known fact that most social media sites have a default setting which allows anyone to type in a phone number and search for the owner in that fashion. This way, if there is subterfuge at play, the person more than likely has not bothered to turn off this setting because they did not know about it in the first place.

3. Try looking up usernames.

Most people use the same username over most of the websites they use. And some of those sites may very well have their phone number listed. Since most people really don’t use their landline for communication anymore, it is a virtual lock that if there is a phone number listed, it will be for their cellphone.

4. There are unique search engines which are specially designed to search only for people.

These differ from general search engines because they retrieve only information which pertains to actual people. This would include cell phone numbers as well. This is a very sneaky way to look up a cell phone number without the person being searched being any wiser.

5. Remember never to pay for the information of trying to find a cell phone number.

While there are numerous websites which will gladly take your money in an attempt to find the cell phone number, the results are far from guaranteed but what is guaranteed is that you will not get your money back if no results or if incorrect results are found. It is much easier and safer to do the search yourself online for free. At least this way, if nothing is found you are not out any money, only the time it took to do the search.

The Most Common Neurosurgery Procedures

This post may contain affiliate links. See disclosure. Check out my suggested resources.

October 17, 2018 By Jennifer Lambert 1 Comment

Most people don’t have a deep knowledge of a lot of medical procedures. When it comes to something as complex as neurosurgery, a lot of people might assume that it has something to do with the brain. While this may be partly true, it actually involves much more than just the brain.

Neurosurgery is a type of medical procedure which is performed on a patient’s nervous system.

Dr. Robert Louis of Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery in Orange County, CA reminds us that while neurosurgery is done on the brain, very often it can involve the spine. Neurosurgery is considered a specialty because it deals with diagnosing and treating patients who either have brain injuries, spinal column disorders, spinal column diseases or issues with the spinal cord, brain or peripheral nerves.

Neurosurgical procedures can be done on both adult and pediatric patients. There are a variety of both surgical and non-surgical options and each option is determined based on the nature of the disorder, disease or injury being treated.

These are some of the more common types of neurosurgery procedures performed.

Anterior Cervical Discectomy

Almost everyone will experience some neck pain during their lifetime. However, if your neck pain is due to a herniated disc, a neurosurgeon might be the answer. Those who suffer from herniated discs know that the pain can be practically unbearable. Some sufferers may end up needing surgery to fix the problem. This procedure is a common one that involve removing the damaged disc responsible for pressing on the spinal cord or nerve root in order to heal the pain being caused.

Craniotomy

It is unfortunate to find out that thousands of people each year are victims of a stroke or brain injury. However, it is fortunate for these victims that there are neurosurgical procedures to save their lives. One of these procedures is called a craniotomy. This procedure involves removing a portion of a patient’s skull so that their brain has more room to heal without the threat of being crushed.

Chiari Decompression

This procedure is used for those affected by a defect in the brain which controls balance. This condition is referred to as Arnold-Chiari malformation. This procedure may be used to correct the condition and enable the patient to have an improvement in their balance and coordination. All options for treatment of this condition involves surgery. However, the safest neurosurgery procedure for this condition is the Chiari decompression and it will involve removing a bone at the back of the patient’s skull.

Laminectomy

This procedure is a minimally-invasive one and requires just small incisions to be made. The incisions are done so that a small portion of the lamina or vertebral bone can be removed. This procedure is common for those patients who suffer from severe and debilitating back pain.

Lumbar Puncture

This procedure is very simple yet very effective. It is done in order to diagnose how many diseases might be affecting the patient’s central nervous system.

Epilepsy Surgery

When someone suffers from epilepsy, the first method of treatment is usually based around pharmacological methods. If a surgical option is necessary, it will be advised by a neurological specialist. The most common types of procedures involve removing a small portion of a patient’s brain that is responsible for producing fatal seizures.

Spinal Fusion

This procedure can be used for someone with a degenerative disease or someone who is suffering from a traumatic injury. A spinal fusion is a type of surgical procedure used to help keep someone’s spine in a stable position. This option is only done as a last resort when all other options did not work.

Microdiscectomy

This is a neurosurgical procedure that is used as a treatment for people suffering from painful herniated discs.

Ventriculostomy

During a ventriculostomy procedure, the specialist will use a tube to remove excess fluid that has built up in a patient’s brain. This procedure is done without implantation.

Ventriculoperitoneal Shunt

This procedure is also one that is used when there is fluid building up in someone’s brain. To drain the excess fluid in this case, a shunt gets implanted into the brain to help drain any excess liquid that accumulates.

It can be said that our brain is our engine and our body is the steering wheel. If our brain does not function properly, our body can become static. If our brain does not function the way it is supposed to, we can start reaching a vegetative state. This is where the importance of neurosurgery comes into play. The use of modern procedures, both invasive and non-invasive, have simplified many complex procedures and brain surgeries in this era and has saved many lives.

Cosmetic Dentistry Treatments

September 28, 2018 By Jennifer Lambert 6 Comments

When Is the Right Time to See a Cosmetic Dentist?

Have you noticed how important having a beautiful smile has become in your professional as well as your social life? In a recent study conducted by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, nearly three-quarters of respondents stated that they believed having an unattractive smile could set a person back in his or her career. Whether it’s fair or not, people judge you by your teeth, and when your smile is less than perfect, people notice. Thanks to innovations in cosmetic dentistry, however, these days, almost everyone can have a dazzling smile.

Cosmetic Dentistry Treatments

Cosmetic dentistry is a catchall term for dental procedures that focus on improving the appearance rather than the functionality of your teeth and gums. Many people think that you have to leave your current dentist to see a cosmetic specialist. This isn’t always the case. With a dental office like Lasting Smiles of Highland Park, you can have the luxury of your normal dental team providing you cosmetic options in addition to general preventive dentistry.

Popular cosmetic dentistry solutions include teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, dental bonding, crowns, braces and invisible aligners, laser gum treatments and implants.

Teeth whitening: If you drink beverages like coffee, tea and red wine, or if you smoke, chances are that your teeth have developed a yellowish cast. Teeth whitening involves the use of bleaching products to remove these stains from your teeth. Sure, you can buy do-it-yourself whitening solutions at your pharmacy, but they’re not likely to be either as effective or as long lasting as a treatment you have done in your cosmetic dentist’s office.

Porcelain veneers: Porcelain veneers are another solution for discolored teeth. Veneers can also help correct problems like slightly misaligned teeth, cracks, chips and worn enamel. Veneers are ceramic shells that are custom-designed to address your specific dental issues. With proper care, they can last as long as 10 to 15 years.

Dental bonding: In dental bonding, your cosmetic dentist will apply composite resin to your teeth to correct problems like chips, fissures and small spaces between your teeth. Bonding is also used to attach porcelain veneers. Bonding materials can be expected to last between 3 and 10 years.

Crowns: A crowns is an artificial cap that is fitted over one of your natural teeth. Crowns can be fabricated out of tooth-colored porcelain if you want them to blend in seamlessly with the rest of your smile, or they can be made out of gold. Crowns typically have a lifespan between 10 and 15 years.

Braces and invisible aligners: Braces have come a long way from those uncomfortable metal brackets and wires you may remember from your own adolescence. Braces are no longer just for teenagers, either: According to the American Association of Orthodontics, almost 800,000 adults wear braces on their teeth. If you‚Äôre considering an orthodontic solution to your malocclusion, you’ll be able to choose among ceramic, tooth-colored braces; clear plastic aligners; and braces that are fitted on the back side of your teeth. These options should greatly cut down on any embarrassment that‚Äôs associated with wearing braces as an adult. You will probably need to wear your braces for between 18 and 24 months.

If you’re self-conscious that your gums are too prominent when you smile, you may be interested in contouring treatments that can shape your gingival display. A cosmetic dentist may be able to do perform this treatment using laser surgery though in more severe cases, you may need to consult a periodontal specialist.

Implants: Implants offer a permanent solution for the loss of teeth. An implant is a two-part procedure: First, a titanium post is implanted into your jaw; next, a crown is attached to the head of the post above the gum line. Over six months or so, the titanium post will actually fuse to your jawbone, which makes this a permanent solution even though your crown may need to be replaced in 10 to 15 years.

When Cosmetic Dentistry Is Also Restorative Dentistry

Certain cosmetic procedures actually enhance the functionality of your teeth.

Crowns are used to protect the functionality of teeth that are extremely damaged. If decay has claimed so much of a tooth that the tooth’s structural integrity is compromised, a dentist will often opt to put a crown on that tooth rather than to fill it. Implants, too, can be looked upon as a procedure whose purpose is both restorative and cosmetic since missing teeth are not just an aesthetic issue. Missing teeth can cause your remaining teeth to shift their position in your mouth, which can seriously affect your ability to chew.

When is the right time to see a cosmetic dentist?

Practically anytime when you want your teeth to look better, and you want to have healthier teeth and gums.

HVAC Hazards

September 18, 2018 By Jennifer Lambert Leave a Comment

Childproof Your Home From These 5 HVAC Hazards

Parents who want to keep their children safe at home often overlook their heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.

There are numerous ways children can get injured in connection with these complex systems, but the following five are some of the most common.

1. Improperly Secured HVAC Vents

Vents that are not properly secured can be a very real hazard to children of all ages. Sometimes the vent grates aren’t installed correctly. Toys can easily be dropped through them, and little hands can get caught in them or cut on them. Make sure vent covers are adequately secured.  Repair any bent, broken, or missing vents.

2. Outdoor HVAC Units

Outdoor HVAC units are a danger to young ones. They’re full of sharp edges that can cut and scratch, wires full of high-powered electricity, and vents that can snag.  Make sure outdoor units are either fenced off or surrounded by shrubs, and let children know not to play on or around HVAC units, especially during repair, installation, or service.

3. HVAC Unit That Needs Service or Repair

HVAC units in need of repair often pose the greatest risk to children. Some units might look old or battered. Some might have been damaged in an accident. There are often numerous signs that a unit is in need of repair or malfunctioning, ranging from strange rattling sounds or pools of standing water or a strange smell like gas. Any of these signs should be a wakeup call to get in touch with a professional for service immediately. If you see a unit like this, make sure to let everyone, especially children, know to stay away from them until the issues are repaired.

4. Poorly Installed Window Units

Improperly installed window units are a common cause of accidents in the home. If they’re not properly braced underneath, they can topple over if pulled from the outside. And if they’re not installed correctly with the right support, they can easily be pushed out from the inside by even little hands. It’s also imperative to determine whether a window unit is draining correctly. Otherwise, it could be causing serious structural damage to the building or create a potentially lethal situation with a pool of electrified standing water.

5. Failing to Keep Up With Routine Maintenance on HVAC Units

Make sure your HVAC unit is not leaking potentially lethal carbon monoxide gas — get your unit inspected by a licensed professional annually. Carbon monoxide poisoning is one of the most common HVAC safety concerns.  More than 150 people a year die from non fire-related carbon monoxide poisoning. It’s easy to prevent — simply make sure that you have a working carbon monoxide unit in your home, and remember to test it as recommended by the manufacturer.

Most of the common HVAC hazards are quite preventable.  Use common sense, and make sure everything looks, sounds, and smells right. Make sure that your HVAC unit receives preventative maintenance regularly by a trained professional.  That will ensure that you won’t run into any nasty surprises.

Creating Community

Making Communities More Hopeful and Neighborly Places

You have most likely heard many older people reminiscing about how their neighborhoods were so different when growing up. They recount neighbors visiting over fences, parents watching out for everyone’s children and sharing glasses of lemonade on the front porch. If this does not sound a thing like the neighborhood you live in, you can still experience a positive neighborhood experience with a few simple changes. Everyone, including you, can have a vital role to play in your community.

Creating Community

How Can We Create Community?

Be Willing to Volunteer

Rather than just talking about all the things that should be happening in your community, you must be willing to volunteer yourself. There are many places and ways that you can volunteer. Some of them may use passions that you already have while others may pique your interest in new life missions. Consider befriending an older neighbor, helping a neighbor with yard work or becoming a mentor to someone younger. These personal relationships are where good community starts.

Support Your Local Businesses

Local businesses provide much of the tax revenue for your community. When there are plenty of thriving businesses in the area, the community itself will prosper and have the money it needs to better itself. Try to buy as much of your groceries, clothing and consumables from local businesses rather than traveling to a larger city or shopping online.

Support the Arts

While there are many variables that go into making a community great, the arts, including music, handicrafts, theater and artwork, are what really speak to people’s hearts. Help your community get involved in local theater projects, or start your own Art Walk with local artists every summer. Other fun ideas include painting art on the sides of buildings, supporting local dance troupes and investing in some citywide street pianos.

A thriving community is good for you, your neighbors, local businesses and tourists. You do not have to rely on city council to make changes. Instead, you can be the difference for your community.

5 Reasons You Shouldn’t Put Off HVAC Maintenance

This post may contain affiliate links. See disclosure. Check out my suggested resources.

September 7, 2018 By Jennifer Lambert Leave a Comment

Your HVAC system is crucial to keeping you warm in the winter and cool in the summer and for circulating clean, healthy air throughout your home. A well-functioning HVAC system will not only save you money on your monthly utility bills but can also help prevent costly repairs.

Image via Flickr by yourbestdigs

Here are 5 reasons you shouldn’t put off HVAC maintenance:

1. Maintain Efficiency

An efficient HVAC system functions at peak levels throughout the year. To keep your system running in tip-top shape, get your HVAC system regularly maintained by a qualified HVAC service professional. Regular maintenance helps your system run as efficiently as possible, which in turn lowers monthly utility costs. An efficient system is good for your wallet as well as your health.

2. Breathe Healthy Air

Clean HVAC filters and coils means cleaner air for you and your family. An unmaintained HVAC system is susceptible to dirt, mold, and bacteria. Without a properly cleaned and serviced system, that dirt, mold, and bacteria can travel through your HVAC system and circulate through the house. Unhealthy air can cause respiratory problems, especially in those who are more sensitive to air conditions, such as children, the elderly, and people who already have health issues. Regular maintenance will keep your HVAC system clean and running smoothly.

3. Prevent Costly Repairs

Like keeping a car in good shape or taking care of your own health, preventative care can help prevent bigger issues in the future. When performing a regular maintenance check on your HVAC system, a professional may find a small issue that, if left unchecked, could cause a major problem a few months down the road. Preventative care is often less expensive than dealing with an emergency that could disable your entire system.

4. Keep Your System Running When It Matters Most

While there is never a great time for HVAC issues, they are particularly unsavory when the outside elements are harsh. You don’t want to find yourself with a broken heating system in the dead of winter. Losing your air conditioning on a 100-degree summer day is also challenging. By undergoing regular maintenance, you lower your risk of a catastrophic failure through the rest of the year.

5. Extend the Life of Your System

Replacing your HVAC system can be expensive, so make the most of your current investment by getting regular maintenance performed. Regular maintenance, in addition to helping to prevent costly repairs and catastrophic failures, will also help to extend the life of your system. A qualified HVAC service professional can look for preventative fixes as well as test the load on your existing system to make sure it’s not being overtaxed. With a bit of care up front, your HVAC system will be running efficiently, and the stresses on the system’s individual components will be less.

Your HVAC system helps keep you comfortable year-round. With consistent maintenance from a qualified HVAC service professional, you can extend the life of your system and keep it running efficiently for many years to come.

How Healthy is Your Air Conditioning Unit?

This post may contain affiliate links. See disclosure. Check out my suggested resources.

How Healthy is Your Air Conditioning Unit? 4 Ways to Find Out

As homeowners, we are responsible for maintaining a comfortable and safe space for our loved ones. While good cleaning habits and routine upkeep go a long way, don’t forget that the less-visible features of your house also need attention. Your air conditioning system is responsible for filtering and circulating the air your family breathes, and if it’s not functioning properly, it can pose significant health risks. But don’t panic; evaluating the condition of your home’s system is relatively simple.

Get to Know Your Air Conditioning System

As a first step, identify your AC unit’s make and age. A system’s age is important: The U.S. Department of Energy recommends replacing units every 10 years for maximum energy efficiency. But older systems are also more likely to develop leaks and accumulate contaminants like mold and mildew. Left unchecked, circulating particles of mold can activate allergies and irritate delicate membranes in the nose and ears, even to the point of bleeding. If more than one of your family members start to develop a cough this summer, an elderly air conditioning system may be to blame.

Pay Attention to the Refrigerant

Innovations in air conditioning technology mean safer and more efficient solutions for your home, but you’re responsible for making sure your installation is up to snuff. In recent years, manufacturers have begun to replace certain industrial refrigerants with less hazardous, more environmentally-friendly alternatives, and the United States has restricted the import of certain chemical compounds altogether.

Check the informational label on the outside of your compressor — older refrigerants will be identified with names like “HCFC-2” or “R-22”. Certified technicians must replace outdated systems with newer installations, but the upgrade is safer as well as more cost-efficient.

Check Your Filters Regularly

8a2e6bddc120b9db04776481da50b3f4.jpeg
Image via Flickr by Ivy Dawned

Your unit may use disposable or washable air filters, but in either case, they must be changed on a regular basis. Set a schedule and stick to it. Dirty filters and unclean ductwork not only inhibit the circulation of air inside the home, they can also let in dangerous pesticides and allergens from the outdoors. Poorly-circulated, polluted air negatively impacts everyone in the house, including pets, but can be a downright health risk for young children, the elderly, and anyone with underlying respiratory issues (such as asthma.)

Preventative Maintenance Is a Must

Don’t make the mistake of waiting for your system to become a problem: Get professional eyes on your system early. Although homeowners can check some aspects of their HVAC unit on their own, all air conditioning installations require regular maintenance and evaluation by licensed repairmen. A good certified technician will look at your system’s ductwork, electrical wiring, compressor operation, and circuit boards, among other components. They should also carry out a thorough and detailed cleaning and perform repairs where necessary. A reliable annual service plan ensures that issues with your system are identified before your family’s health gets involved.

When it comes to the air your family breathes, routine observation and maintenance can mean the prevention of everything from headaches and fatigue to serious upper respiratory infections. Using these four simple steps as a guide, become familiar with your air conditioning system, its components, and a trustworthy technician; the return in air quality, comfort, and savings is more than worth it.

3 Critical Considerations When Homeschooling

This post may contain affiliate links. See disclosure. Check out my suggested resources.

July 24, 2018 By Jennifer Lambert Leave a Comment

For homeschooling families, each day comes with a unique set of opportunities and challenges. In most cases, the challenges come from outside the realm of education. From finding quiet time for yourself and your child to managing your home and social life, it can certainly be an uphill battle to stay focused on your goals.

Here are a few things that homeschooling families should consider to make sure everyone finds a positive life balance.

7255a28d3c6e940a778abf1393b6c77f.jpeg
Image via Flickr by IowaPolitics.com (CC-By-SA 2.0)

Manage Your Busy Schedule

Being your child’s teacher, coach, driver, and parent is a full-time job, but what about all of life’s other tasks? Finding ways to manage your schedule and reducing stress is key to providing a sustainable homeschooling environment.

Set a structure for your curricula ahead of time. While most public school students attend classes for six hours or more each day, a homeschooled child receives more focused attention. This means that each day is different, and so some states also allow fewer daily hours. As your child ages, online courses and independent learning can free up additional time.

Setting schedules and expectations early and often helps create a consistent and fulfilling experience for both you and your child.

Keep Your Home Clean

Naturally, homeschooling families spend a great deal more time within their own four walls. This additional time at home brings added traffic, dust, rubbish, and an increased use of appliances. It’s easy to see how clutter can get out of hand. What most don’t consider is the additional exposure that homeschool families have to volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which are found in ordinary household cleaners. These harmful contaminants can cause respiratory health issues, particularly during prolonged exposure.

To more safely manage your home cleaning, keep a visible calendar or chore chart to make sure that all areas of the home get cleaned regularly. Create daily and weekly checklists for each member of your household so that everyone is helping out. You can reduce your exposure to VOCs by eliminating aerosol or spray cleaners and by having an HVAC expert install air handlers to deliver clean air into your home and remove the pollutants.

Don’t Forget to Socialize

Homeschooling provides an incredible opportunity to focus on your child’s education and life experiences, but you must also find time for your child to socialize. There are many places that provide safe social environments for your child to interact with others, including local homeschooling groups, extracurricular activities offered by your school district, libraries, and parks. These outings not only stimulate your child in new and creative ways that the home classroom may not provide, but it also allows you the opportunity to meet new people and share thoughts and experiences with other homeschooling families.

Instead of overwhelming your family and your schedule, look to double your efforts by combining chores and errands with social outings. Visit the grocery store and work on a budgeting lesson with your child. This venue is a great place to socialize with members of your community, and you can tackle that grocery list at the same time.

Homeschooling can be a blessing for both child and parent. Taking the time to create a healthy, schedule that benefits your entire family gives you the best opportunity to be successful.

How an OB/GYN Can Help You

This post may contain affiliate links. See disclosure. Check out my suggested resources.

August 28, 2017 By Jennifer Lambert 8 Comments

A person who specializes in the medical fields of obstetrics and gynecology is often referred to as an OB/GYN. Are you a woman who is planning on giving birth to children at some point in your life?

If this is the case, it will be very important for you to seek out the services of a skilled OB/GYN to assist you during your pregnancy. There is a common misconception that all doctors who work in this profession are basically the same. After all, these people are taught the same things when they are attending medical school. You need to realize that some medical schools are much better than others. Some people have been a practicing OB/GYN for a longer period of time. Look around and explore the backgrounds of the various people who work in this profession in your area. The health of your baby will be better off because of the time you spend searching for the best OB/GYN for your needs.

Here are some examples of a few of the areas that an OB/GYN can specialize in.

1. Maternal-fetal medicine

This person will be able to help you if you have a pregnancy that is very high-risk. For example, you will go to see a maternal-fetal medicine specialist if you go into premature labor, you have a problem that prevents your blood from clotting properly, you have gestational diabetes or you have gestational or chronically high blood pressure. All of these problems require the treatment from a specialist. An OB/GYN who does not have extensive training in these areas will not be able to provide you with the help you need. Therefore, you should always make sure that the OB/GYN you make an appointment with has a background in the area you need help with. Dr. Max Izbicki became an OB/GYN because he loves to help people. Max Izbicki loves his job and is respected by his many patients and colleagues in the medical profession.

2. Reproductive endocrinology and infertility

In this case, the OB/GYN will be able to treat problems that involve a woman’s infertility. This person also has extensive knowledge of the hormones and glands that are in a woman’s endocrine system. A reproductive endocrinologist is a person you would make an appointment with if you and your partner have not been able to conceive a child. This person will have the necessary training to perform an embryo transfer, zygote intrafallopian transfer, gamete intrafallopian transfer or in vitro fertilization.

3. Gynecologic oncology

This doctor has chosen to focus on finding and eliminating various forms of cancer that are able to develop and grow inside a woman’s reproductive system. The vulva, ovaries, cervix and uterus are all areas where cancer can form.

4. Reproductive surgery and pelvic medicine

This type of OB/GYN has a surgical background. They can help women by repairing problems they are experiencing with their urinary tract. They also perform surgery on the connective tissue and muscle that is found below the pelvis. A number of things like getting older and pregnancy can cause a weakening of the pelvic floor. This person has the training to correct problems related to pelvic organ prolapse, overactive bladder, fecal or urinary incontinence, discomfort in the bladder and infections of the urinary tract.
